The Historical Film Services database

Some of the 500 re-enactors on our fast-growing database, here portraying riot police and miners Photo: Dick ClarkWe maintain an extensive database of top and individual specialist extras together with reliable groups. So there’s no need for you to spend time searching for the right people when we have this information at our fingertips.

Choosing the right performers

If you require just a few specialist extras, we can provide suitable experienced, reliable individuals. If on the other hand you want larger numbers, we can assist there too. And with years of experience in dealing with re-enactors, we know exactly who can do what (and who can't).

Some production companies prefer to contact re-enactment groups direct, but there are a bewildering number and variety of re-enactment groups and individuals to choose from, with hundreds of societies in Britain alone. Re-enactment is largely a voluntary activity, so standards can vary enormously from group to group. Historical authenticity and client satisfaction are not always priorities with some, so choosing an inappropriate group can lead to a sub-standard result. Fortunately, there is no need to risk time-consuming or expensive mistakes. Just consult Historical Film Services. We can remove any worries about whether the re-enactors will be up to the job. Work with us and you know they will be. Historical eras recreated include from the ancient world to World War Two and beyond. So whether you require, for example, ancient Greek Hoplites or German Wehrmacht of 1944,  we can source the appropriate specialist extras.

We have hundreds of skilled extras on our books, all interested in TV and film work. Most can supply appropriate clothing and kit for key historical periods, or simply adapt to costumes supplied to them from a production company. So if you need specialist extras, consult Historical Film Services to fulfill your needs. As well as sourcing them we can organise, train and direct them on request.
