Historical reconstructions

With Historical Film Services'  contacts and expertise available, nobody has to make do with inaccurate reconstructions that detract from the programme's purpose. We can put together a convincing reconstruction as we are as painstaking in our research as we are with whom we utilise in bringing history to life. It is usually just as easy - and cheap - to get it right as it is to get it wrong, so don't settle for second best. And, significantly, as a result we are pretty much "HD - proof"!

However, we are not "anoraks" and understand that artistic compromises are occasionally required on film, so you need not worry that we or our performers will create difficulties on set in the event this is required.

Although we specialise in military history, we can can source or arrange a recreation of pretty much any historical scene or era, from the ancient world to the C20th.

We are acknowledged experts in supplying supporting artistes and specialist extras  and (only the best) re-enactors as skilled supporting artistes or walk-ons, having weeded out those that do not meet our exacting standards. They know what to expect and won't waste your time - quite the opposite in fact, as they'll save you time. We can recruit the appropriate extras then co-ordinate them on set, making everything run as smoothly as possible for you during filming. Click for typical costs.

Military and other co-ordination on set

Don't just hire our extras, bring us in to co-ordinate them. Quite simply, we make life easier for production companies.

Whether you need a small number of individuals or a whole “army”, EventPlan can not only arrange and organise them, we can co-ordinate them as well. Our historical expertise will ensure clothing and kit is correct, appropriate period drill and movements are used, authenticity gaffes avoided and that the whole thing looks right and is “anorak-proof”. And in doing so we’ll stop you from having to check everything yourselves, so saving you time and money.

Perhaps your most valuable commodity on set is time. We can really help here, for example, by checking/drawing up the order scenes are filmed in - with our expert understanding of historical costume, armour and tactics we can minimise kit and personnel changes so allowing maximum filming time. Our excellent relationship with performers can ensure that sequences are staged swiftly and with historical accuracy.

We are particularly skilled in putting together historical combat scenes, but are equally happy with a genteel C17th dinner party! Action sequences become far easier to film when EventPlan staff co-ordinate them for you. Howard Giles has 30 years experience in ensuring live and filmed re-enactment sequences - often where it is not possible to stop the action and try again, so they must be right first time. As a result, we can plan and complete large, complicated sequences in just one take, as The Battle of Orgreave demonstrated in spectacular fashion. Live-action stunts can also be arranged, along with production of specialist props.
