The
Battle of Orgreave

A
second mounted police charge is launched. Once again the police line smoothly opens just as the mounted unit sweeps through at speed. The miners, alerted by the drumming on the shields, are not caught by surprise this time but still have no choice but to run away. As they do, the whole police line advances 30 yards. However, as soon as the mounted police retire back through the line, the miners follow up, throwing “stones”.Photo © Natalia Wieczorek.
