The
Battle of Orgreave

A not so thin blue line: 380 long and non shield officers stand ready, with mounted police behind and another 50 short shield officers held in reserve out of sight. Although a much scaled-down recreation compared with the thousands of police on duty in 1984 (forming a line up to 12 deep in places), our 4-deep cordon looked extremely imposing. 80 long shield officers, deployed in a single line, held the front of the cordon, overlapped as in reality by non-shield officers.
