The Battle of Orgreave

Re-enactors and extras playing NUM pickets gather on the hillside overlooking the Police cordon. Some of those photographed here were also present in 1984. Actor Simon Kirk played the part of Arthur Scargill, wearing a reproduction of Mr Scargill’s famous “Teamsters” baseball hat. Yellow “Coal Not Dole” stickers were produced in quantity for use in the re-enactment.

Curiously, any mention of Arthur Scargill's role in the original confrontation, including his injury, was avoided in Mike Figgis' film.
