Throughout the production of the series, Historical Film Services* sourced supporting cast members, skilled walk-ons for action sequences, other extras and additional specialist wardrobe requirements including appropriate arms and armour. We also acted as historical advisors and assisting with the planning and co-ordination of battle sequences, such as the Battle of Hastings for 1066. Props, like this section of a galley, were produced by Ancient Wisdom.
On 7 December 2004 writer and presenter Nick Knowles received a Royal Television Award for the series, screened during the Spring.
