A Roman legionary on guard outside a captured British round house. For visual effect, 1st Century AD armour and equipment was worn by the Roman re-enactors taking part rather than correct republican-era mail and kit of 100 years previously. However, unlike other documentaries which do the same, Caesar's Invasions "comes clean" on that it's technically the wrong stuff and even manages to work a gag into the script to make the point!
On 7 December 2004 writer and presenter Nick Knowles received a Royal Television Award for the series, screened during the Spring.
